Learn how our six-step portfolio management process keeps your goals in focus
1. Identify Objectives & Constraints
2. Create Investment Policy Statement
3. Determine Asset Allocation
4. Select & Implement the Securities
5. Review & Rebalance the Portfolio
6. Measure & Evaluate Performance
1. Identify Objectives & Constraints
As the first step in the portfolio management process, Netvesco helps clients to establish their goals. In addition, we determine their time horizon, current worth, liquidity requirements, investment constraints, and risk tolerance.
2. Create Investment Policy Statement
Secondly, we create the investment policy statement (IPS). Essentially, this document serves to bring clarity to the portfolio management process. For example, the IPS outlines the client’s financial goals, time horizon, and asset limitations. Also, it details the advisor’s reporting commitments, rebalancing guidelines, proposed fees, and management style. In effect, the IPS communicates the investment procedures, expectations, and constraints recognized by all relevant parties.
3. Determine Asset Allocation Strategy
Thirdly, we determine the strategic asset allocation. Initially, this endeavor begins with a careful examination of the investment policy statement and the macroeconomic environment. Then, we select the strategy which best reflects the client’s objectives and constraints.
4. Select & Implement The Securities
Fourthly, we implement the investment strategy by selecting specific securities. In order to make the best selections, we look for assets which offer the highest returns at the lowest possible risk.
5. Review & Rebalance The Portfolio
Fifthly, we monitor portfolios on at least a daily basis to control risk and a monthly basis to optimize asset allocation. Further, we continuously examine risk profiles and the macro-economic climate to ensure that portfolios remain in balance.
6. Measure & Evaluate Performance
Sixthly, we periodically review portfolio performance with clients to assess progress toward goals. In the long run, investment measurement and evaluation provides feedback which helps to improve portfolio quality and performance.
